Charity work
At Chase Zander, we set aside one charity day every year, where the whole company takes leave of the office to do something really worthwhile. We alternate annually between sponsored fundraisers and committing our time and effort to a good cause. Everyone in the team can propose a different charity or project, and we all vote on which one we would like to support.
Here are some of the things we’ve got involved with over the last few years.
2007
In 2007, the whole team at Chase Zander raised over £6000 in sponsorship for Demelza Hospice Care for Children. We walked just over 50km through the Pennines over the course of two days, equipped with rucksacks, tents, Kendal mint cakes and our mascot William (a very energetic Labrador).
Demelza is an organisation which provides hospice care for over 450 children with life-limiting illnesses, and their families, across Kent, East Sussex and South London. They recently launched their ‘Capital Appeal’ in an effort to raise £6.5 million to build South London’s first residential children’s hospice.
2008
In 2008, we devoted our charity day to planting trees in London. For every placement we make, we donate one tree to be planted in a UK city. This day out gave our team the opportunity to see a different side of their success – while enjoying a bit of team-building.
Trees for Cities is an independent charity that works with local communities on tree-planting and landscaping projects. Their aim is to tackle global warming, create social cohesion, and make some of our most neglected urban areas more beautiful again through tree planting, community education and training initiatives.
2009
In 2009, we took the team to the Forest of Dean to complete an 8-hour course of full-on physical challenges. The sponsored event included abseiling blindfolded, caving, and a timed fitness challenge.
Our blood, sweat and tears were well spent supporting FOCUS Birmingham, a local charity who provides advice, support, and care services to individuals with visual impairment, physical and learning disabilities.
