50 km Walk for Demelza
The Chase Zander Charity Walk!!
What are we doing?
Every year at Chase Zander, we like to go out into the community and help a local charity by raising much-needed funds for them to develop and grow, buy new technology and/or replace equipment etc. For 2007, we have decided to put our feet to the test by walking just over 50km (51.53km to be exact!) through the Pennines over the course of two days, equipped with nothing but our rucksacks, tents, Kendal mint cake, our mascot William (a very energetic Labrador) and our wit – although we do fear the latter may run out when we come to put up the tents on the first night!
Who are we doing it for?
Here’s the important part guys. The reason we’re subjecting ourselves to numerous blisters, dinner from a tin and Steve’s guitar playing round the campfire!
The charity we are walking for is called Demelza – Hospice Care for Children.
Demelza is an organisation providing hospice care for over 450 children with life-limiting illnesses and their families across Kent, East Sussex and South London, and they recently launched their Capital Appeal, to raise £6.5 million to build South London's first residential children's hospice.
The Launch took place at the historic Eltham Palace, in the London borough of Greenwich, home to our offices and just a few hundred yards away from Demelza’s Wensley Close site, where the vital new service for children and families in the area will be built, on land owned by the Greenwich Teaching Primary Care Trust.
This really is an exceptional cause to raise money for, so dig deep – and make our walk worth while!
